Shop Vac Photos
Shop Vac Landscapes is a series of photographs taken inside a shop vacuum. Each one reveals a familiarity to a sky and ground mediated by a horizon line in a curvilinear perspective. However, the sky is the red of the vacuum cylinder and the ground is made of the debris that piles at its bottom. The debris consists of wood chips, blue painter’s tape, bits of drywall board, and other miscellaneous rubble. In some, there is a dominance of sawdust. In others, the ‘landscape’ changes according to the dust collected. Drywall and plaster dust give the impression of collected snow, and ash makes the landscape look volcanic or alien. The photographs were taken over a duration of time and connected to activities of home repair.
